 ABOUT NDA

The National Defense Academy is an Exemplary Institution with the Hallmark of Global excellence in the realm of military education where cadets of the Army, the Navy and the Air force trains together before going to the respective service academies for further training. 

         Age of 20s is considered to be the age of enjoying life and having fun, but there are only a few Courageous Youngsters who step forward to take the responsibility of this great nation. The candidates who got selected in the National Defense Academy have to live the most difficult three years of their life in the Training period. Those Candidates who are selected for NDA have to train and prepare relentlessly for their nation and valor. They choose this path to become a Proud Soldier of this Nation by joining one of the most prestigious military academies in the world.

 Life at National Defense Academy

At the First day of your training in NDA, there will be a word all across the academy for a person who gets into the academy. The place will scare you like hell and Training will seem no less than mental and physical torture. The first stage every cadet will go through is the proper Army Haircut, which will the identity of the Cadet. Every Cadet has to wake up early at 3:30 am to join their seniors for who is there to humiliate you. In the coming few days you will start to feel the merciless and emotionless atmosphere around you. All the candidates are assigned with a bicycle, Each cadet is given a personal room of his own. The rooms can be checked anytime so keeping things in order becomes the nature for a cadet. The Grueling Physical training has led a lot of candidates to quit the National Defense Academy. There are many related cases in which cadets choose not to complete their course due to demanding physical and mental work.

Training Period

 An Aspirant is welcomed in NDA by the Joint training team (JTT) going through the two months long orientation during which he is toughening up mentally and physically. The training duration in National Defense Academy (NDA) is harder than you can imagine. This Training period is divided into six terms having 5 months each. There will be a lot of tests to clear from academic exams to drilling, PT, swimming, firing, horse riding, navigation, and tactics, etc. All tasks will be conducted under the high pressure of officers, instructors, and seniors because they want to ensure that you will meet exact standards of discipline and punctuality.  Indoor training will include practical and theoretical training. All the candidates will undergo same training till 5th semester. The Candidates of Army study tactics like Terrain study, Judging distances, Recognition of landmarks and indication, Concealment and camouflage, trench digging, stalking, field signals, water control orders, attack, casualty evacuation in 6th semester.

    Air force training takes place under the Air Force Training Team (AFTT). The Flying training begins in the 6th semester. Super Dimona powered Sailplane is used to train the candidates to fly.

    Naval training is conducted by Naval Training Team (NTT) at Waterman ship Training Center (WTC). Candidates are trained in rowing, yachting, kayaking, windsurfing and water skiing.

 Daily Routine

 Every Candidate's schedule is decided before the start of the term and the same schedule is followed till the end. The schedule will never change for anyone either its burning heat or rain shower.  All Candidates have to wake up early in the morning and after attending morning roll-call, cadets proceed to the PT/Drill. After the end of the outdoor training, cadet come back to his room, freshen up and goes for breakfast and rushes to attend the classes.
